1. Addresses the three key aspects of finding, managing
and sharing content.
Ripple has been built to address
the three central aspects to an end-user’s view
of content: how do I find interesting content, how
do I manage the content I own, and how do I share
content I like with the friends I love. The three
modules of discovery, backup and sharing are central
to the Ripple architecture, and each of the three
solutions (Discover, Vault, Share) addresses one aspect
holistically. Therefore, a key benefit Ripple delivers
is to offer a single-vendor solution to these three
issues. It also offers a migration path from one solution
to the next. Take the example of backup.
A customer may want to start
with a basic backup proposition, but then value-add
with a management and sharing proposition. Another
customer may want to offer an address book backup
solution, and later upgrade to archival of media files.
And another customer may want to focus on media file
backup and sharing, and connect this to a digital
printing service. Ripple gives you the flexibility
to meet your end-user’s needs.

2. A powerful recommendation engine
Each service provider is unique
in how content, services, and users are treated. Algorithms
whose accuracy is related to the content metadata
available will not perform well in scare-information
environments. Algorithms that require significant
transactions, before accurate recommendations can
be made, will not be able to recommend the large influx
of new content. By using a suite of algorithms, Ripple
can be deployed with relatively similar success across
different service providers. This means that Ripple
delivers relatively accurate recommendations right
from the start, and its accuracy only increases with
time. It also means that systems and workflows do
not have to change.
The small screen size and short-session usage of the
phone, makes tracking what the user does not do almost
as important as tracking what the user does do. Parameters
such as device-content compatibility, credit availability
(if pre-paid), time of day, season, bandwidth availability,
QoS, user rating, location… these are some important
factors to be considered when delivering recommendations.
Ripple has been designed to include any parameter
into its scoring engine so that recommendations served
factor in these service measurements.

3. Increased scalability Some
of the algorithms we employ require significant computational
power. Our scientists continuously work to increase
the efficiency of the recommendation engine. In the
past 12 months alone, we have achieved a 1500% increase
in overall efficiency. Increased efficiency allows
us to handle large amounts of user generated content,
to turn-around with new recommendations quickly, and
gives us the capability to incorporate new content
into recommendation sets as soon as the content is
introduced into the portal. This means that your content
starts getting visibility immediately making for a
more satisfied consumer and a more satisfied service
provider.
Purple Ace provides Ripple as a software platform
or runs its solutions as a managed service. The service
provider’s WAP portal can be Ripple-enabled
through a set of APIs that tag the subscriber’s
activities, and delivers the additional functionalities
in real-time. This enables the service provider to
reap the benefits delivered by the Ripple solutions,
while reducing the operational complexity to a bare
minimum. Purple Ace abstracts these complexities by
hosting, supporting and maintaining the solution.
